The Ron Show

in

In 2006 I was approached by a co-worker to do music for an animated series pilot.

The subject matter?  Ron Jeremy.

Yes, everyone's favorite porn star/reality star/actor was finally coming to television in a non-reality format.  According to my co-worker, this was destined to be part of Adult Swim on Comedy Central.  They had booked time at one of the Warner Bros. stages to do the V.O. with Ron for the first episode and were even talking about paying me to do music.  Seemed like a dream come true.

At the time I was recording with a band in a rehearsal space in hollywood.  I enlisted the bassist and drummer temporarily forming The Ron Show Power Trio.  A few takes later, we had ourselves a theme song.

The music in this is recycled (almost verbatim) from a song I wrote while playing in my first band.  It's a simple riff that was made playful by the fantastic rhythm section; sort of Howdy Doody without the singing, if the puppet made adult-oriented short films.  I'm pretty pleased with it.  I had always dreamed of going back and re-recording it once the show was picked up but, alas, the cost of animation and other complications derailed the project before it could be finished.

This was tracked on a mackie 24/8 bus to DA-78's and dumped into Pro Tools for the mix.

Unfortunately, the original session was lost with the great hard drive crash of '07, so I am pleased that this rough mix of the pilot has survived.  Track has been edited to cut out the non-music sections.  As far as I know, no picture exists for this.
